When in a situation where there is adequate time and a requirement for a price driven project, a traditional lump sum tender can be implemented.

This process allows for selected contractors to competitively bid for the project based on the tender documentation supplied.

 

Pros for this model allow for fair and competitive pricing being submitted to the client, however documentation must be fully completed to avoid additional costs driven by undocumented scope of works, changes from tender to construction set of drawings or site conditions for instance.

 

A blend of lump sum and D&C for services for instance can sometimes be adopted, minimising risks for the client.
